Book nine of my Advent calendar is Winterkill by Ragnar Jonasson. It’s a crime novel set in Iceland and originally written in French with the translator being David Warriner. The author is Icelandic and he lives in the country, according to the author note in the book. the book is the sixth in a series all featuring the same police officer. I have not heard of the book or the writer before.
I like Scandinavian crime a lot. I enjoyed The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (see a review of one here) and have read most of its sequels and I have also read Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow (see my review here) and a few others set in the area. I think that this will probably be my first Icelandic crime novel. For some reason I feel an interest in the country despite never having visited it and being a person who tries to avoid cold weather ! The weather seems to play a part in this novel as a blizzard cuts off a small town where sinister things are happening and a sudden death may not be an accident.
I am looking forward to reading this novel which seems to be very much my thing. The copy I have been sent is in good condition.
