Travelling for the Summer – are you coming too ?

I decided to spend the summer reading books from my infamous to-be-read piles which are set in different countries because of how many I read during my Springcleaning Challenge which was March, April and May (see my concluding blog here). It seemed like an excellent idea for a new challenge and a good opportunity to reduce the piles still further – here is what I thought as I started this new challenge.

Here’s the list of countries and books from that completed challenge (link to the review by clicking on the title) :

Libya            Flight of the Phoenix

Italy             My Italian Bulldozer

South Africa  The Promise

Greece          Ill Met By Moonlight

Bosnia          The Quick and the Dead

France          Suite Francaise

India            Grandmother’s Footsteps

Indonesia     Nathaniel’s Nutmeg

Poland                    Irena’s Gift

There were actually three books set in India on the list but I am only counting one for each country. I am also not including the UK or USA in this challenge as I read so many books from those countries already.

In addition I have now read a couple more as I started my Travelling Challenge at the beginning of this month.

Switzerland   Doctor Fischer of Geneva

Australia       The True History of the Kelly Gang

I have a nice little pile of books featuring other countries which I have yet to read and I have until the end of August to see how far I get – I was surprised by how many books I have ready to read which satisfy the requirements of this challenge.

Some of these countries have featured in many books which I have read but others seem to me to be a bit more unusual. What books have you particularly enjoyed from these countries ? What do you think of the books I have read ? Feel free to comment on each blog or on here. It would be good to hear from some other readers. I will try to remember to encourage people to do so when I write more blogs.

It’s a very interesting world out there – keep reading !
