The third book of my Advent Calendar is a psychological thriller – The House at the Edge of the Cliff by Carol Drinkwater. I have never read anything by this author, who is primarily known as an actor, but I can see that she has written quite a few books, both fiction and non-fiction. The copy I have been sent is in good condition, although you can see that it has been read.
This story is set in Provence where Grace is living in a beautiful house on a cliff. Her life appears idyllic but there are secrets in her past which I suspect will come back to haunt her in this novel. Has she done something dreadful ? Has someone else ? I’m not going to know anything until I read the book.
This type of book interests me and many of them have a really clever idea behind them. I have found, unfortunately, that not all psychological thrillers hold my attention until the end, mainly because they become so implausible. I am prepared to give this one a try – it could be brilliant. I will review it when I read it.
To accompany this book the creator of the Calendar has included a pencil. It’s designed to look like a page of a book rolled up into a cylinder. It’s not just useful but good to look at as well so I am very happy with this goodie.

Nice to get a book that you think you might enjoy today. The pencil sounds fun too

And now I also have. I wonder which of us will read it first?
