Advent 2025 Book 15 – Sorcery, books and treason

Book 15 of my Advent Calendar is a bit of surprise because it is another novel by Margaret Rogerson who was the author of yesterday’s book. I didn’t expect to have two books by the same author in the Calendar. This may work very well but if I don’t like this author’s writing then I have two books which I can’t read instead of one. I suppose we shall see which it will be.

This is a Young Adult fantasy novel called Sorcery of Thorns where the main character is a librarian who is accused of treason and whose only support is a sorcerer who is her sworn enemy. This is apparently the first book in a series but, although it was written in 2019, there has been no second volume, although there is a novella featuring the same characters. I do like a book featuring a librarian and I am always happy to read about magic so we shall see what I think of this story in due course. As with yesterday’s book it has a beautiful cover.

Along with the book I have been gifted a wooden heart, embossed with a snowflake, which is designed to be hung on a Christmas tree or as a decoration. I have hung mine from the shelves in my study.
