Nicci French (the pseudonym of two journalists who write together) is the author of many crime novels. I have only ever read one of these and from what I can remember I didn’t hate it. Saturday Requiem is one of her series of novels featuring a psychotherapist, Frieda Klein.
Frieda is asked to assess a woman who, when she was a teenager, was incarcerated in a mental hospital after she killed her family. Frieda is troubled by the assessment and begins to believe that Hannah might not have been the perpetrator but may also have been the victim of a murderer who is now prepared to take extreme measures to protect themselves from discovery.
The plot sounds excellent and this is a book that I might well have picked up for myself had I seen it. I am certainly looking forward to reading it.
With this book is another coaster, like the one I had with Book 1. This one says “Crazy Book Lady” which I am not sure is entirely accurate (I wouldn’t call myself a lady) but I like it anyway. I now have both these coasters on my study desk where they are giving me a lot of pleasure.
