2024 Advent Book 12 – “Felicia’s Journey” by William Trevor

We are half way through our Advent countdown to Christmas and through the books I was sent for my Advent calendar. Book twelve is another book of literary fiction. It’s Felicia’s Journey by William Trevor. Yet again, it is a book I haven’t read and don’t own.

I have read a couple of this author’s books before, the most recent being The Children of Dymchurch (see my review here) which I found to be an unusual and rather creepy novel – it was certainly different. Today’s book appears to be about a seventeen year old Irish girl who travels to England to find her boyfriend to tell him that she is pregnant. I suspect that things will not go well for poor Felicia as it seems that she becomes involved with some rather sinister characters.

I would definitely have bought this book had I seen it in a charity shop and I am looking forward to reading it. The copy I have been sent is a lovely Penguin edition but it looks like it was bought some time ago as it is showing signs of age – this doesn’t matter to me at all as the binding is secure and all the pages are present.
