2024 Advent Book 13 – “Final Term” by Leigh Russell

Book thirteen of my Advent calendar is a crime novel. Final Term is by Leigh Russell and is the nineteenth in her series featuring a Detective Inspector called Geraldine Steel. I have not read this book and have never heard of the series or the author before – there are a lot of crime books out there and we often only hear of a limited number of authors. I am certainly prepared to give this a go as it may be that I discover a new author whom I enjoy reading and who has plenty of already published books to read.

This book appears to centre on an accusation from a pupil that there has been inappropriate behaviour by a male teacher. The pupil is murdered and the teacher is suspected of the crime. When there is a further murder the police are sure that they have found their killer, except for Geraldine who thinks that they have the wrong man. I have read a similar plot in a book I read recently by Alex Gray (I recommend her books – see here for a review of one of them – I have read most of the series now and have come to love them). I suspect that it’s going to become a more frequent theme in crime novels.

An excellent choice and a chance for me to try something new. The book itself is in good condition .
