The final book in my Advent calendar is The Bone House by Caroline Mitchell. I have not heard of this author before but she has published quite a few crime novels. This is the third in a series of three, featuring Detective Sarah Noble, set in a small town and with a paranormal feel. I will be fine with this book unless it veers into horror. The story revolves around the finding of the bones of a dead child. The police must investigate what is a very cold case but which seems to present dangers for people in the town today. I am quite happy to give this book a go and if I like it then there are others by the same author to try. The copy I have is read but in good condition.
It is Christmas Eve and thus we come to the end of my Advent calendar which I have really enjoyed. This year’s books were chosen, and supplied individually wrapped, by the Tree House Bookshop in Warwickshire (their website is here) and they have sent me a wide variety of crime/suspense novels and literary fiction.
Only one book was a duplicate of a book I had read recently and will now be given away to my local Oxfam Bookshop. One I had read before but it is so long ago I am happy to reread it and one I have previously given up on but will try again. I am prepared to have a go at all of the books which are new to me and I am actively looking forward to about half of them. I feel that I have got value for money from my Advent calendar and would definitely buy from them again.
Of course, I really didn’t need an additional 23 books to add to my to-be-read piles but, after all. It’s Christmas !
It only remains for me to wish my followers and readers a good Christmas time and a Happy New Year. I shall be reading and blogging over the festive season (and eating and drinking). I hope that we can all keep reading….

Merry Christmas. For the most part, they sound like interesting books.

Thank you. I think I did very well and it was fun opening a new parcel each day.
