My Advent Calendar has reached Book 11 and I have to say that I am very pleased with the choice of the books that I have been sent so far and also with the condition of the paperbacks. I haven’t been enthusiastic about all of the books but there have been plenty that I have been happy with and I want to read.
Today’s book is Hidden Treasures by Fern Britton. This is another contemporary novel of the genre often described as “Women’s Fiction”. It’s about a newly divorced woman who relocates to a Cornish village and is pursued by two very different men. In addition, the village is to be the setting for a new TV show. This is a book that could be fun and enjoyable or which could instead be sentimental and silly. I have never read anything by this author before so I can’t really tell in advance whether I will like the style of writing.
This is the third book in this year’s calendar that has been written by a “celebrity”. Ms Britton has been a TV presenter but I have never seen anything that she has appeared in so I have no views about her and no opinion about whether or not she actually wrote the book.
Today’s included item is an eye mask to be placed under my eyes in an attempt to deal with the bags and wrinkles in the skin. I have never used anything like this before but there are plenty of wrinkles to have a go at so I shall maybe indulge myself at some time in the future.
