Advent 2025 Book 23 – Love, marriage and Hollywood

My reading friend Sara has been encouraging me for some time to read a book by Taylor Jenkins Read whose work she enjoys and thinks that I would like too. Well, now is my chance because the penultimate book of this year’s Advent calendar of books is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, a book which has been very popular in recent years and which I have somehow never read.

The story is about the life history of Evelyn, who is a Hollywood actress and who is dictating her life story to Monique who is a reporter and is acting as a ghost writer. The book is the story of Evelyn’s career and the people she meets, loves and occasionally marries. She starts to reveal the secrets of her life and Monique finds herself drawn into the story and connected in ways she could not have imagined.

I’m glad that this book turned up in my calendar and I am pretty sure that I will enjoy it, from leafing through it. We shall see – I will post a review in due course.

With this book was a bracelet of small, polished, wooden beads. It’s rather nice but I don’t wear jewellery and will pass this on to someone who will appreciate it.
