Advent 2025 Book 24 – Christmas, letters and love

My final book in my Advent calendar of the year (thank you to the Mystery Book Box) is a Christmas story. It’s The Christmas Love Letters by Sue Moorcroft. This author writes romantic comedies and I have read a few of her books which I have enjoyed. As ever with this year’s books this volume is in excellent condition.

The story is about Maddy who lives in a small seaside village with her young daughter and her Great Aunt since her husband left finally and unexpectedly six years ago. Into her life comes a new man with a collection of family love letters and as they explore these together they begin to draw closer. It seems, however, that the past is not finished with Maddy.

It’s nice to finish this collection of 24 books with a romance set at Christmas and it’s a bonus that it is by an author who I like.

This book wasn’t wrapped up like the others but came in a bright pink soap bag – I have quite a collection of soap bags but there’s always space for one more. With the book in the bag are some more chocolate coins, some prosecco flavoured sweets, another eye mask and a lip salve. A useful collection of objects with which to celebrate Christmas and make me feel good about myself.

In this year’s Advent calendar I received 24 books all of which were in excellent condition. Of those I had previously read four. There was one book I was not prepared to read again and it has gone straight to Oxfam but I have every intention of having a go at the remaining 23. I am a bit wary of some of them but I am actively looking forward to reading some others. I think that I had hoped for more crime novels and maybe fewer modern romances but this was a lovely mixed collection ranging from fantasy to literary fiction and including modern classics, romances and contemporary fiction along with a variety of suspense novels. I think that the mixture worked well and that I have definitely received value for money.

Included with the books have been some little novelties including bookmarks, drinks sachets, sticky tabs, jewellery, sweets and coasters. It’s been fun receiving a little gift most days and I shall find a home for all of them.

It only remains for me to wish all of you who have been reading my Advent blogs (and there are a lovely lot of you, including some who have commented as well) a very Merry Christmas and a great 2026. The blog will continue and I hope that we will all have plenty of opportunity to keep reading !
